In a recent article about my enjoyment of figs at my Georgia Grandmother’s at my home in Laurens County and here, I mentioned the long, slow auto trip to South Georgia and the Burma Shave signs which provided much entertainment to three wriggly children.Many people have said that the article brought back pleasant memories; the people my age recalled the Burma Shave signs, though some grew up in cities and didn’t travel much by auto to see them. But the younger folk either said, “I’ve heard of them” or “What are Burma Shave signs?”Hence, this column; the teacher in me just must continue to instruct. Review: 'True Blood' 7,'Burning House of Love,' look at the future
The St. If you haven't watched Episode 7, "Burning House of Love" of HBO's "True Blood," spoilers ahead.) Ah, Sookie (Anna Paquin) is in love, and well, it's a bit annoying. She really takes it to heart when she swishes around Merlotte's, flashing her fang bites. Still, I felt a little sorry for Sam (Sam Trammell) when Sookie rubs her relationship with Bill (Stephen Moyer) in his face. Bill and Sookie's love scene picks up mostly where things left off -- minus the tongue bath he gives her bitten neck. Sookie has made a major switch from early episodes when she was horrified at the thought of Bill biting her. Is this just a sign of her more fully trusting him or has she lost a part of herself? On his part, Bill was touching in his reaction to Sookie's revelation that her Uncle Bartlett molested her as a child. Sookie is beginning to see what every human girl in love with a vampire eventually realizes -- there are some drawbacks to having a boyfriend who can't make it through the ...
